Jem Bates and Judith Seaboyer (Jude) are a couple of obsessive wordsmiths who live and work in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on a ridge looking out to the ocean. When not working with words we're most often gardening and caring for our patch of rainforest.

Jem Bates
Jem has thirty years’ experience as a freelance and in-house editor.
His nonfiction work ranges from business and professional development to memoir and biography. History and politics, current affairs, arts and culture, social sciences, travel and sport are all well represented in his backlist.
As a fiction editor he has collaborated with popular, genre, literary and YA authors.
For more than ten years he specialised in secondary and tertiary educational publishing.
He has worked with countless private clients, organisations and publishers in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

Jude Seaboyer
Dr Judith Seaboyer (Jude) has an MA (Hons) in English from the University of Auckland and a PhD in English Literature from the University of Toronto. She taught literature for over twenty years at the University of Queensland, where she supervised more than fifty students as they prepared their theses for assessment. Ethical editing is fundamental to this process.
As well as publishing her own research in literary studies, she has edited academic journals and essay collections and written many successful research-funding proposals in the areas of student reading and writing. She has been recognised by UQ and nationally with awards for outstanding teaching.
